Obsessed.
On any given day, I might make reference to something political, or funny, or interesting that reminds me of an episode or a moment on The West Wing. I even spent a rehearsal once re-casting the show as if it was populated by characters from the show (one of my characters, for that particular show, was Abbey Bartlet - oh yeah!)
Today, without seeking them out, 2 such references came to me for my enjoyment and I shall now share them with you - God bless YouTube and it's warehouse of fabulous clips!
At lunch, I was watching "Numb3rs" on Netflix and Don (Rob Morrow) made reference to the same joke that Father Tom Cavanaugh (Karl Malden) told President Bartlet (Martin Sheen) in Season 1's episode: "Take This Sabbath Day". (Full disclosure - I remembered the name of the episode and that is was in Season 1, but had to look up the character/actor name for Father Tom - my brain is bad with names!)
Then, on ye olde facebooke, there's a BuzzFeed of things that will 'make you happy' and low and behold, #15 was:
Blind Willie Johnson was blinded by his mother as a child, and he died of pneumonia in the burnt remains of his house in 1945. In 2004, he became an ambassador for life on Earth when the Voyager I left our solar system with a recording of his song “Dark Was the Night, Cold Was the Ground” aboard.
You may recall, as I did, that Josh (Bradley Whitford) used this argument on Donna (Janel Moloney) as a reason to continue space exploration and support NASA's proposed mission to Mars in Season 5's episode: "The Warfare of Genghis Khan" (I could have sworn this was during season 4, but it's 5!)
